Green Sector Skills

Are you in Year 9 or above and currently considering your career choices?

Have you ever considered the green sector?

Did you know that careers in the green sector include – environmental scientists, landscape designers, surveyors, civil engineers, archaeologists, ergonomists, forest operatives & much more…

Here at Naturally Birmingham, we want to promote how fantastic working in the green sector is and all of the opportunities it has to offer. One of the best things about the green sector is getting interactive and learning on the job. We have created 3 videos, which include activities that are often used within the green sector:

1. Estimating the height of the tree.

2. Measuring a Design Space

3. Soil Jar Test

We would especially encourage students studying maths, geography, art or science and those that have an interest in the green sector to have a go.

A big thank you to Stephen Ensell, Education Officer for BALI (British Association of Landscape Industries), Go Landscape for his support with the videos. If you want to know more from Stephen about the landscaping world, then please do get in touch with him directly via: Landscaping jobs, Landscaping apprenticeship, Landscaping courses (golandscape.co.uk)

For Schools

For schools we have created support packs to compliment the videos and highlight the relevant careers that apply to the activity and when or why you might use the activity.

We also offer careers seminars with green sector professionals to talk with the students about what they learnt during the activity, gain feedback and talk about the next steps if they are interested in the green sector.

To receive the support packs and stay up to date with new videos please email me
